Haywood Regional Medical Center Awards $4,000 in Scholarships to Local Students

Haywood Regional Medical Center (HRMC) presented four scholarships to students at the County Clash football game Friday, October 13. The scholarships of $1,000 each are given to seniors with the top GPAs in band and football at Pisgah and Tuscola High Schools. The hospital is proud to contribute to the educational futures of students in our region.
This Fall’s scholarship recipients are:
- Pisgah High School – Band Scholarship: Madeline Frazier
Madeline is the daughter of Rebecca Frazier. In her free time, she enjoys art. She is a member of National Honor Society. After high school, Madeline plans to attend Appalachian State University. - Tuscola High School – Band Scholarship: Julia Ottie
Julia is the daughter of Jessica and Jason Ottie. Julia serves as the Band President and plays the trumpet and baritone in the Tuscola Bands. Julia is planning to attend Western Carolina University and double major in Criminal Justice and Forensic Science with a Chemistry Concentration. - Pisgah High School – Football Scholarship: Stephen Matthew Bennett
Matthew is the son of Melissa Bennett, Tony Bennett and step-son of Mandi Bennett. He is a wide receiver and linebacker on the football team. Matthew is also a member of the varsity basketball team. He plans to attend NC State University and aspires to be a veterinarian. - Tuscola High School – Football Scholarship: Hudson Blackburn
Hudson Blackburn is the son of Michael and Kristi Blackburn. He has played all four years at Tuscola as a linebacker is an outstanding young man on and off the field. After graduation Hudson plans to attend a four-year university.
